supplemental appropriation order for the Boston Public Schools for FY25 in
the amount of Thirty Three Million Two Hundred Sixty Two Thousand
Four Hundred Sixty Six Dollars ($33,262,466.00) to cover the impact of
FY25 cost items contained within the collective bargaining agreement
between the Boston School Committee and the Boston Teachers Union. The
term of the contract is September 1, 2024 August 30, 2027. The major
provisions of the contract include general wage increases of 2.5%, 2%, and
2% in September of 2024, 2025, and 2026. The Paraprofessionals and
ABAs will also receive market rate adjustments, the committee submitted a
report recommending that the order ought to pass.

Councilor Santana called Docket #0891, message and order authorizing the
City of Boston to accept and expend the amount of One Hundred Eighty
Thousand Dollars ($180,000.00) in the form of a grant, for the Hazard
Mitigation Plan Update 2026 (BRIC Grant), awarded by the Federal
Management Agency, passed through the Massachusetts Emergency
Management Agency, to be administered by Emergency Preparedness. The
grant will fund a sustained pre disaster natural hazard mitigation program to
reduce overall risk to the population and structures, while also reducing
reliance on funding from actual disaster declarations, from the Committee
on Public Safety & Criminal Justice.
