The Committee on Ways and Means, to which was referred on April 4, 2012 Docket #0474, message and order approving an appropriation of Twenty Million Eight Hundred Ten Thousand Dollars ($20,810,000.00) for acquiring land, or interest in land, for any purpose for which the City is or may hereafter be authorized to acquire land or interest therein; and for the construction of buildings, or for additions to such buildings where such additions increase the floor space of said buildings, including the cost of original equipment and furnishings of said buildings or additions; and/or for remodeling, reconstructing, or making extraordinary repairs to public buildings owned by the City, including original equipment and landscaping, paving and other site improvements incidental or directly related to such remodeling, reconstruction or repair; and/or for the acquisition of departmental equipment; and/or for the development, design, purchase and installation of computer hardware and other data processing equipment for the purpose of the School Department, the Committee submitted a report recommending the order be read once in a new draft and passed. Councilor Ross offered the following Amendment: Strike the amount of $20,810,000.00 and replace the amount with $7,221,345.00, Strike the sixth item “Fenway High School” and Strike part of the seventh item “Mission Hill K-8 School”. Councilor Ross moved the Amendment. Councilor Arroyo seconded the motion. The motion did not prevail, yeas 5 (Arroyo, Baker, Jackson, Ross, Yancey), nays 8: On motion of Councilor Ciommo, the order was read once in a new draft and passed; yeas 12, nays 1 (Councilor Ross). Councilor LaMattina called docket #0252, message and order approving an appropriation of Nineteen Million, One Hundred Five Thousand Dollars ($19,105,000.00) for remodeling, reconstruction or making extraordinary repairs to public building owned by the City of Boston, including original equipment and landscaping, paving and other site improvements incidental or directly related to such remolding, reconstruction or repairs, and/or for the renewable energy improvements to public buildings of facilities, and/or the installation of fire alarm systems, including extending and improving such installations for the purposes of City departments, including the School Department, from the Assignment Sheet. No objection being heard, the matter was before the body. On motion of Councilor LaMattina, the order was read a second time and again passed yeas 11 nays 0.
