Foreclosure Prevention and Intervention

The Boston Home Center offers free foreclosure prevention and intervention counseling and home preservation services. Our services are free and confidential.

The City has funds available to help prevent foreclosure, including an Emergency Foreclosure Prevention Fund

Foreclosure Prevention and Intervention

If you are having difficulties making your housing payments or are worried about these payments, call us at 617-635-4663. We provide free and confidential counseling and provide assistance with:

  • working with lenders on loan modifications to help resolve mortgage delinquencies  
  • tax title issues
  • budget and financial management counseling to help offset other housing expenses
  • forbearances or deferments due to COVID-19
  • applying for state resources. These include Residential Assistance for Families in Transition (RAFT) and Emergency Rent and Mortgage Assistance (ERMA). You can learn more about both programs on the state's website.

Don’t pay someone for these services. We can provide them for free.
