As part of the programming leading up to Cabin in the Sky, join artist Ifé Franklin for the Ancestral Slave Cabin Workshop, an opportunity to explore memory, ancestry, and the history of Black life during enslavement in the American South. This workshop is presented as part of the Un-Monument Initiative. 

Located near the historic site of New Guinea and Copp’s Hill Burying Ground, Stone Maps traces and reflects on the presence of Black history embedded in Boston’s landscape. The evening will also celebrate the beginning of Kiyan Williams’s 2026–27 residency with Ujima and CAIUP, marking the launch of Williams’s term as CAIUP’s Artist-in-Residence. Come celebrate Stone Maps, Williams’s residency, and the histories, communities, and possibilities that shape Boston’s landscape.

Set in Franklin Park, the installation features a life-size ancestral cabin, augmented reality, live performances, projections, and participatory community activations. Journey from Past to Present to Future through the Ancestor Slave/Freedom Cabin, Ancestor Procession, and Hush Harbor, where community-submitted images of African-descended ancestors come to life through projection, soundscape, ring shout, and collective ritual.

For over 150 years, 133 Black women were buried at Cedar Grove Cemetery in two communal graves, with only a marker that reads "Home for Aged Colored Women". Join us as we reveal their names and honor their lives. Unveiling a temporary memorial design by artist Ekua Holmes.

Boston Harbor Bites is free and open to the public, with no tickets required. The City of Boston awarded TSB the contract to design, recruit, and operate the festival through an open Request for Proposals (RFP) process. Vendor and partner spotlights, day-by-day schedules, and the full vendor lineup will be released. The event is produced by The Social Butterflies Events.

Watch the debates and defiance that once filled this iconic space come to life using dynamic sound, dramatic lighting, and projected animations of fiery revolutionaries, determined citizens, and a few unlikely troublemakers whose courage shook these walls.

Celebrate America's 250th in the very place where ordinary people set extraordinary change in motion. Enjoy lively music, snack on summer-inspired fare and tasty drinks, and connect with fellow Boston locals. Doors open at 7:00 PM and the show begins at 8:00 PM. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before showtime to reserve your seat. To preserve the integrity of the experience, late entry will not be permitted once Ruckus! has started. Guests arriving after 8:00 PM will be admitted following the conclusion of the show.

Erich and Janice Steinhagen bring their 18th century craft techniques all the way from Connecticut as they demonstrate redware pottery production and the fiber art of spinning. Erich will be throwing pots on the wheel while Janice spins sheep’s wool or flax into yarn. Finished products will be available for sale!
