City of Boston Traffic Advisory, Thursday, September 15 - Sunday, September 18, 2016

Hub on Wheels, Mayor's Cup bike races and other scheduled events will impact traffic and parking 

Hub on Wheels, the Mayor’s Cup Bike Races and other scheduled activities will impact traffic and parking on local streets in Boston from Thursday, September 17, through Sunday, September 18, 2016.  To travel to these events, information on Hubway, the regional bike-share service, may be found at www.thehubway.com and information on the MBTA may be found at www.mbta.com.  For a faster return trip, the MBTA advises riders to purchase a round trip rather than a one-way ticket.

Mayor’s Cup Bike Races and Fitness Events

On Saturday, September 17, the Mayor’s Cup bike races and the Boston Social Fitness Festival will take place in the vicinity of Boston City Hall and on City Hall Plaza.  The following streets will be closed to all traffic from 9 AM to 6 PM on Saturday to accommodate these events and drivers are cautioned that traffic in the surrounding vicinity is expected to be heavy throughout the day.

  • Cambridge Street, between Court Street and New Sudbury Street (northbound lane)
  • New Sudbury Street, between Cambridge Street and Congress Street (eastbound lane)
  • Congress Street, between New Sudbury Street and State Street (northbound and southbound lanes)
  • Court Street, between Sate Street and Cambridge Street (westbound lane)
  • Court Square, in its entirety

Hub on Wheels

Hub on Wheels will take place on Sunday, September 18.  The following streets will be closed to traffic from 7 AM to 9 AM on Sunday to accommodate this event.

  • Congress Street, between New Sudbury Street and State Street (southbound lane)
  • Cambridge Street, between Court Street and New Sudbury Street (northbound lane)

“Tow Zone No Stopping, Boston Police Special Event, Saturday and Sunday” parking restrictions will be in effect as follows for these events.

  • Cambridge Street, both sides, from Court Street to New Chardon Street
  • Congress Street, City Hall side, from North Street to State Street
  • Court Square, both sides, the entire length, inbound and outbound
  • Court Street, both sides, from Washington Street to Cambridge Street
  • New Chardon Street, both sides, from Cambridge Street to Merrimac Street
  • New Sudbury Street, both sides, from Cambridge Street to Congress Street
  • Union Street, memorial side, from North Street to Hanover Street, excluding any HP spaces
  • State Street, both sides, from Congress Street to Washington Street
  • Washington Street, both sides, from Water Street to Court Street

Friday, September 16

  • Russel Street, Charlestown, between Sullivan and Walker Streets, closed to traffic from 5 PM to 8 PM.

Saturday, September 17

  • South Boston Street Festival - East Broadway, between I Street and L Street, will be closed to traffic from 7AM to 6PM.  “Tow Zone No Stopping Saturdays” in effect on East Broadway, both sides, from I Street to L Street; L Street, odd side, from L Street heading south to the first two street lights; and at all spaces in the Municipal Parking Lot at #650-652 East Broadway.
  • Atlantic Street, South Boston, between Thomas Park and the bottom of East 4th Street, closed to traffic from 12 PM to 8 PM
  • Langley Road, Brighton, between #43 and #61, closed to traffic from 2 PM to 8 PM
  • Child Street, Jamaica Plain, between Verona and Lee Streets at Carolina Avenue, closed to traffic from 3:30 PM to 7:30 PM.
  • Heathcote Street, Roslindale, between Poplar Street and Hawthorne Streets, closed to traffic from 1 PM to 8 PM
  • Stratford Street, West Roxbury, between Clement Avenue and Kenneth Street, closed to traffic from 1 PM to 6 PM

Sunday, September 18

  • Freedom Rally - “Tow Zone No Stopping Boston Police Special Event Saturday and Sunday” parking restrictions will be in effect on Charles Street, Public Garden side, from the center gate to Beacon Street.
  • Mt. Vernon Street, Beacon Hill, between Charles and Brimmer Streets, closed to traffic from 10 Am to 5 PM. “Tow Zone No Stopping Sunday 9 AM to 5 PM” in effect on Charles Street, even side, between even side, between Mt. Vernon Street and #54 Charles Street; Mt. Vernon Street, both sides between Charles Street and David G. Mugar Way; and River Street, both sides, between Mt. Vernon Street and Lime Street
  • South Street, Leather District, between Kneeland and Beach Streets, closed to traffic from 12 PM to 7 PM
  • Birch Street, Roslindale, between South and Corinth Streets, closed to traffic from 12 PM to 3 PM.   “Tow Zone No Stopping Boston Police Special Event Sunday” in effect on Birch Street, both sides, between Belgrade Avenue and Corinth Street.
