In this month’s edition of COB #LinkedInSights, we sit down with Katherine Mendez Lopez, Constituent Services Manager in the Mayor’s Office for Immigrant Advancement (MOIA). 

 
⭕ What is your job title?

Constituent Services Manager, Mayor’s Office for Immigrant Advancement (MOIA).

⭕ How long have you worked for the City?

4 months!

⭕ What is your favorite part about working for the City?

My favorite part about working for the City is representing my community, meeting so many people from diverse backgrounds and walks of life that are committed to making the City of Boston a better place for everyone.

⭕ Why did you choose this career path?

I chose this career path for many reasons, one of them being that I participated in the first cohort of MOIA’s Immigrants Lead Boston program and it inspired me so much that I wanted to be part of the Mayor’s Office for Immigrant Advancement (MOIA) full time to help and improve the lives of everyone who decides to make Boston their home.

⭕ WHAT IS THE BEST piece of advice YOU HAVE EVER RECEIVED? 

The best piece of advice that I have ever received is to take one day at a time.

⭕ What are some things that you like to do outside of work?

I love dancing and diamond painting.

⭕ if you had to describe yourself in three words, what would they be?

Compassionate, storyteller, kind.

⭕ FAVORITE SNACK?

Salt and vinegar potato chips.

⭕ sun or moon?

Sun.

⭕ WHAT KEEPS YOU MOTIVATED AT WORK?

What keeps me motivated at work is how rewarding it is to hear constituents who are grateful for the support they receive from us and feeling like I am honoring my family and the values they taught me with this work.
