Traffic Advisory for Thursday, August 9, through Sunday, August 12, 2018

Special events taking place Thursday, August 9, through Sunday, August 12, will impact traffic and parking on streets in the City of Boston.  People coming into the City to enjoy the festivities are encouraged not to drive their personal vehicles.  Information on Bluebikes, the regional bike-share service, may be found at http://bluebikes.com and information on the MBTA may be found at www.mbta.com.  Walking is also a great way to move around Boston.

 

Thursday, August 9 – Saturday, August 11

Concerts taking place at Fenway Park will require the following parking restrictions.

“Tow Zone No Stopping Boston Police Special Event Thursday to Saturday

  • Brookline Avenue, both sides, Overland Street to Lansdowne Street
  • Overland Street, south side , Brookline Avenue to end of legal parking near David Ortiz Drive
  • Boylston Street, south side, opposite Ipswich Street, near Fenway Park, to Brookline Avenue
  • Lansdowne Street, both sides, Brookline Avenue to Ipswich Street
  • Ipswich Street, Fenway Park side, Lansdowne Street to Boylston Street
  • Van Ness Street, both sides, Ipswich Street to Kilmarnock Street
  • Jersey Street, both sides, Van Ness Street to Brookline Avenue
  • Richard B. Ross Way, Both sides, Van Ness Street to Boylston Street

  • Boylston Street, north side, Ipswich Street, near Fenway Park to Kilmarnock Street

Sunday, August 12

The following temporary traffic and parking restrictions will be in effect to support Open Newbury Street in the Back Bay.

The streets below will be closed to traffic from 10:00AM to 6:30PM

  • Newbury Street, from Arlington Street to Massachusetts Avenue
  • Exeter Street, from Commonwealth Avenue to Newbury Street
  • Fairfield Street, from Boylston Street to Newbury Street
  • Gloucester Street, from Commonwealth Avenue to Newbury Street
  • Hereford Street, from Boylston Street to Newbury Street

“No Stopping Boston Police Special Event Sunday” (Enforcement will begin at 5 AM)

  • Newbury Street, both sides, from Arlington Street to Massachusetts Avenue
  • Berkeley Street, both sides, from Boylston Street to Commonwealth Avenue
  • Clarendon Street, both sides, from Commonwealth Avenue to Boylston Street
  • Exeter Street, both sides, from Commonwealth Avenue to Newbury Street
  • Fairfield Street, both sides, from Boylston Street to Newbury Street
  • Gloucester Street, both sides, from Commonwealth Avenue to Newbury Street
  • Hereford Street, both sides, from Boylston Street to Newbury Street, excluding next to the fire station

The following temporary traffic and parking restrictions will be in effect to support the August Moon Festival that will take place in Chinatown.

The streets below will be closed to traffic from 7AM to 6 PM

  • Hudson Street, Kneeland Street to Beach Street
  • Tyler Street, Kneeland Street to Beach Street
  • Beach Street, Surface Road to Washington Street
  • Oxford Street, Beach Street to Essex Street
  • Harrison Avenue, Kneeland Street to Essex Street

“No Stopping Boston Police Special Event Sunday”

  • Beach Street, both sides, J.F. Fitzgerald Expressway Surface Road to Washington Street
  • Harrison Avenue, both sides, Essex Street to Kneeland Street
  • Hudson Street, both sides, Kneeland Street to Beach Street
  • Oxford Street, both sides, Beach Street to Essex Street
  • Tyler Street, both sides, Kneeland Street to Beach Street

The St. Laurence Procession of St. Patrick’s Church will take place in Roxbury.  An estimated 1,000 participants will depart from 400 Dudley Street at 12:30 PM, turn left onto Magazine Street, right onto George Street, right onto Shirley Street, right onto Dudley Street, and return to the church.  The procession is expected to end by 2:30 PM.  Drivers should expect delays in the area as participants march along the route.
