City Council Committee on Ways and Means Hearing on Dockets #0670-0678 and #0691, FY25 Budget: Boston Public Schools - Long-Term Facilities Plan

One of a series of hearings to review the FY25 Budget. The focus of this hearing is the FY25 budget for Boston Public Schools. This hearing will cover topics including mergers/closures, grade realignment, enrollment declines & new arrivals, staffing, central office, and related revolving funds.

    Orders for the FY25 Operating Budget, including annual appropriations for departmental operations, for the School Department, and for other post-employment benefits (OPEB).

    Orders for capital fund transfer appropriations.

    Orders for the Capital Budget, including loan orders and lease-purchase agreements.

  4. Docket #0691

    Message and order authorizing a limit for the Boston Public Schools revolving fund for Fiscal Year 2025 to support the maintenance and repair for BPS facilities, including custodial and utility costs for extended building time, floor refinishing, landscaping and building repairs. Receipts from Lease, Permit for Use and Parking Fees for BPS facilities will be deposited in the fund. BPS will be the only unit authorized to expend from the fund and such expenditures shall not exceed Two Million Dollars ($2,000,000.00).

    These matters were sponsored by Mayor Michelle Wu and referred to the Committee on April 10, 2024.
