All Through My City
By Isabella Caterina Frontado and Unicia Young

Early in the morning, people in Boston are waking up. The owner of a store puts out flowers and veggies, people water their plants, and other people sit outside catching up with friends and neighbors. Yawn, stretch, yawn, stretch. It's going to be a great day!
A boy and his uncle are going on an adventure across the City. He's brushing his teeth. Scrub, scrub, scrub! The water from the sink goes down, down underground through the pipes. He is ready for his adventure with his uncle!
First, they take the bus.
They get off the bus at Kenmore Square and take the stairs down, down into the Green Line station. They scan their tickets, beep beep! and wait for the subway.
When it comes, they get on and ride the train a few stops to Copley Square. Chug, chug, chug. Getting out at Copley Square, they walk up the steps of the station. Up, up, up! The sun makes reflections on the Hancock Building.
They walk over to the front steps of the Boston Public Library to watch musicians playing music on the steps. Do wop a doobee do, do wop dee!
They check out a book to read later and continue on their way down the quieter streets of Back Bay.
The boy and his uncle reach the Boston Public Garden. They walk below the weeping willow trees, past the duck pond, across the footbridge, through the Boston Common. Quack, quack!
Finally they arrive in Chinatown where they stop for a snack. Yum, yum! They are hungry!
They watch people sitting and talking together, families walking together to run errands, people on bikes. They continue on their adventure.
They walk up the Greenway and see huge murals, people gathered with their dogs, buildings of all different shapes and sizes — from 100 Federal Street to the Federal Reserve Bank. Honk, honk, beep! There are cars below!
They follow the Greenway up to Langone Park, and the little boy runs to meet his friends who are warming up for their soccer game. Hello! Hello! Yay! In the distance, is the Zakim Bridge, Charlestown, and a little sliver of the Bunker Hill Monument.
Life in the City continues on, past the soccer field. In the distance, people sail in the harbor as the water taxi motors by. Just across the harbor, other children play on the sports fields in East Boston.
Planes take off at Logan Airport, zoom, zoom, carrying people far away, and bringing people from far away to Boston. In the distance we can see the wastewater treatment plant; all our dirty water goes there in pipes so it can be cleaned before it is released into the sea.
After the soccer game, it's time for the boy and his uncle to go home. What route do you think they will take? What will they see on the way?
