Learn about Waitlists

Waitlists are for income-restricted rental developments that are currently occupied and have no active vacancies. Below is a step by step outline of what to expect when entering an open waitlist.

  1. Agent Contact:  To be included on an open waitlist begin by contacting the listing agent. Complete eligibility information such as proof of income is not required to enter a waitlist, but we recommend making sure you’re likely to qualify before doing so. Use our Eligibility Estimator to find out if you’re likely to qualify.
  2. Selection:  Once a unit is available applicants from the waitlist will be selected to view the home. This could take any given amount of time based on the length of the waitlist and availability. Priority may be given to those that meet certain eligibility criteria set for the unit, such as veteran status or disability. Visit our Income-restricted Housing Guide for a complete list of possible restrictions.
  3. Final Certification:  When it’s time to complete the process you’ll need to submit complete financial information to prove your eligibility.  Your application will be certified by compliance officers before you can complete the rental process. Be sure not to terminate your existing lease before finalizing your new lease.
