Fixit Clinic: BPL Central Branch

Explore troubleshooting and repair with volunteer coaches.

October 17, 2026
Event Date2026-10-17T13:00:00 - 2026-10-17T16:00:00

Fixit Clinics are free workshops where people bring broken stuff—from bikes to blenders to blazers—and volunteer coaches share their tools and know-how, working with you to disassemble, troubleshoot and (hopefully) repair items. These meet-ups build hands-on skills, confidence, community, and a culture of reuse and repair. They are family friendly and open to all.

The City of Boston Environment Department is partnering with the Boston Public Library's Central Branch in Copley Square to host one of these events in the Kirstein Business Library & Innovation Center, located on the lower level of the Boylston Street building.

SIGN UP to participate:

Volunteers make these workshops possible. People skilled in any type of repair or maintenance are encouraged to join this fixing community. Support staff help run the event, signing in participants and connecting them with coaches. Or, attend as an observer to learn about these roles.

Fenway/Kenmore Coffee Hour

Join Mayor Michelle Wu and City Staff for coffee and conversation!

August 3, 2026
Event Date2026-08-03T10:30:00 - 2026-08-03T11:30:00

Mayor Wu’s Neighborhood Coffee Hours are a unique opportunity to speak directly with the Mayor and staff from City departments about open space and their neighborhoods. If there are inclement weather conditions, the time and location may change to an indoor location and will be reflected on boston.gov/events.

A neighborhood staple known for bringing the community together over a cup of coffee, Dunkin’ is back to fuel the conversation with iced coffee and donuts. Dunkin’ will also provide lawn game activities for attendees, gift card giveaways, and the opportunity for residents to win a raffle prize. Free flowering plants will be provided by the Boston Parks and Recreation Department and fresh fruit will be provided by Star Market, while supplies last.
