Walking tour of Christian Science Center Plaza led by Landmarks Commissioner John Amodeo.
The Christian Science Plaza is a beloved mid-century Boston Landmark. How does one adapt an iconic yet challenging Brutalist landscape to meet modern-day needs and concerns, as well as an evolved urban context?
On this walking tour, you will hear from Boston Landmarks Commissioner John Amodeo about the strategies used to make the plaza more welcoming and more sustainable, primary objectives of The First Church of Christ, Scientist. Subtle but effective changes were created at the edges, to make them more porous and inviting while respecting the plaza’s mid-century character.

What can CPA do for your neighborhood? The Community Preservation Office and Boston City Council are teaming up to host discussions about bringing Community Preservation Act funding to neighborhoods across Boston.
We cordially invite you to join us and the District 8 Council Office on Tuesday, May 9, from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the Fenway Community Center. This will be an opportunity to explore how residents can use CPA funds and learn how to preserve or create impactful projects in their communities.
