Coffee Hours are held weekly unless otherwise noted. 

The Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Services liaisons hosts weekly Coffee Hours located conveniently in each neighborhood. This is an opportunity to connect with your neighborhood liaison to receive support connecting with City departments, addressing any concerns, or just to say hello to connect joyfully. 

Neighborhood liaisons look forward to hearing how Boston can improve our neighborhoods.

Get ready for a family-friendly, pedestrian-focused event on Sunday, August 2, 2026, from 10:30 AM to 3 PM that transform Centre St. in Jamaica Plain from Lamartine St. to Lochstead Ave. into a vibrant, car-free boulevard where people can dream, play, and explore. Open Streets Boston will feature live music, food trucks, kid's activities, and much more!

(All Open Streets Boston events take place from 10:30 AM to 3 PM. Streets will be closed to vehicular traffic starting at 9 AM and reopen at 4 PM.)

Our STEM and Emergency Preparedness workshops are led by local BPS teacher and Office of Emergency Management staff. They're held Mondays in July and August and run from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. Join us for exciting hands-on STEM activities that spark curiosity and creativity. Explore interactive hand on learning experiences while discovering the importance of youth preparedness. Learn about hazards, how to call 911 and how to prepare for emergencies with the Office of Emergency Management!

This series is completely free and open to Boston residents. These workshops will take place in various parks throughout the City of Boston.

Registration is encouraged so we know how many supplies to bring (pre-registration is required for groups of 8 or more). Please email allison.singer2@boston.gov to register.

There is limited street parking near the entrance we are meeting at, so we also encourage you to bike, walk, or take public transit. 

The focus of the event is to cleanup trash and glass from the site, clean up trails,  and remove invasive understory plants like knotweed, all of which are done to improve overall forest health and increase visibility into the woods. There will be lots of learning opportunities for residents of all ages and backgrounds. 

The event will happen, rain or shine. We will cancel in the case of extreme weather such as thunderstorms.

Staff will provide all the tools, supplies, and instruction needed for the project(s). Please dress in comfortable & weather-appropriate clothing, as well as closed toe shoes. We recommend participants bring their own water, snacks, sunscreen, and bug spray. All ages are welcome, we just ask to note if any children will be joining for the day!

For the understory plant removal aspect, expect to be utilizing hand cutting tools like loppers and pruners, moving brush, raking, and maybe even kneeling/crouching. Please let us know in the form if you have any special accommodations or needs in order to joyfully participate!
