Cannabis Board Information, Members, and Meeting Materials

The Cannabis Board regulates licenses pursuant to the City of Boston Code, Ordinances, Chapter VIII, and the Rules of the Board. The board consists of seven commissioners who are appointed by the Mayor of Boston. Each commissioner serves a two-year term.

The Cannabis Board grants and regulates various types of cannabis licenses in Boston. The Board also holds hearing on violations and license applications. Our Board issues and regulates: 

  • retail marijuana establishments 
  • medical cannabis dispensaries
  • courier delivery services
  • delivery operators
  • product manufacturing
  • cultivation
  • testing laboratories
  • transporters, and
  • research facilities.

Cannabis Board hearings are typically held on the second and third Wednesdays of each month.
