Farmers Markets in Boston

The Office of Food Access helps to oversee almost 30 farmers markets in Boston.

By supporting farmers markets, Boston citizens will have more access to healthy, local food in their neighborhoods. Local farmers will also benefit from an increased customer base.

Program information

The Health Division at Inspectional Services administers all permits for farmers markets and vendors. Before 2014, the Office of Food Access handled these permits so the forms are all still on our website.

All forms must be submitted to Inspectional Services, but we work together by sharing market manager contact information and fielding procedural questions. Inspectional Services does not collect the market renewal form because markets do not need to go through the permitting processes when returning in the same location year after year.
