Western Avenue Better Bike Lanes

We're adding separated bike lanes on Western Avenue between Barry's Corner and Leo Birmingham Parkway.

The Boston Planning & Development Agency launched the Western Avenue Corridor Study and Rezoning  to engage local stakeholders in discussing the future of Western Avenue. Though those discussions, the community identified a near-term need to add separated bike lanes. Additional changes will help organize bus stops and improve the accessibility of crosswalks along the street.

Past updates

We hosted a virtual meeting with the Boston Planning and Development Agency to share updates about transportation projects happening in Allston-Brighton, including our Better Bike Lanes projects. In a breakout room, we shared our concept designs for Western Avenue, discussed our next steps for community engagement, and took your questions.

We mailed postcards to 2,500 addresses located along the corridor. We also posted flyers on street poles to share info with people who live and travel along the corridor.
