Gaby Germanos is a firm believer in approaching public service through a lens of intersectionality. As a Boston-area native and daughter of immigrants, she is committed to ensuring that the city she loves is equitable, accessible, and welcoming to people of all backgrounds. 

Germanos has extensive experience in City operations and policy. Her tenure with the City began in 2017 in the office of then-City Council President Wu, helping develop the Councilor’s policy platform and recommending improvements to the BPDA’s development review process. Most recently, Germanos worked in the City’s Office of Budget Management (OBM), where she started in 2018 as an analyst and quickly rose through the ranks to Assistant Director. In this role, she oversaw the City’s budget analyst team, drove landmark budget engagement initiatives, and was instrumental in the creation of Mayor Wu’s first budget. 

During her undergraduate years at Harvard College, Germanos prioritized fighting for gender and racial justice. At her first government internship in the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women, she organized public hearings and led advocacy efforts for statewide legislation to combat gender discrimination. On campus, Germanos spearheaded programming for the Harvard College Women’s Center and expanded outreach efforts for the Kuumba Singers, a fifty-year-old Black arts and activism organization. She graduated as a member of Phi Beta Kappa, with a Bachelor of Arts in Studies of Women, Gender, and Sexuality and African-American Studies.

Germanos lives in the South End with her partner and some dubiously healthy plants. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time in Boston’s parks and green spaces, taking weekend rides on the commuter rail, and frequenting the many great restaurants in her neighborhood.
