East Boston Immigration Center project
Learn about the creation of the East Boston Immigration Center exhibit.
Learn about an ambitious initiative to transform and restore a former Jewish mortuary chapel in East Boston into a state-of-the-art exhibit hall on the history of immigration in the Boston area. The center will provide an inspiring context for exploring the experiences of Jewish, Irish, Italian, and other immigrant groups who came through the Port of Boston during the 19th and 20th centuries.
Neighborhood Coffee Hour - East Boston
Neighborhood Coffee Hours give residents a unique opportunity to speak directly with Mayor Walsh and staff from City departments.
Through these discussions and a suggestion box at each site, Mayor Walsh looks forward to hearing how the City of Boston can improve upon local parks, public areas, and City services.
We'll have free coffee and breakfast treats provided by Dunkin', as well as fresh fruit from Star Market. Each family will receive a flowering plant grown in the City's greenhouses as a gift from Mayor Walsh. Also, there will be a raffle with prizes from Dunkin'. We'll provide information on City programs from:
- the Boston Public Library
- Boston Public Schools
- the Boston Police Department, and
- Boston Centers for Youth & Families.
Coffee hours are held from 9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m., unless otherwise noted. For more information and updates on possible weather cancellations, please contact Parks and Recreation at 617-635-4505, or check us out on Facebook or Twitter.
