Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day Commemoration

The Veterans Services department and the USS Constitution are pleased to combine in a joint effort to commemorate the 79th Anniversary of the Bombing of Pearl Harbor.

Join us for the 79th Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day Commemoration at the USS Constitution Museum. After the commemoration, there will be a wreath laying ceremony on the U.S.S. Cassin Young in Charlestown Navy Yard.

The treacherous Pearl Harbor attack initiated the entry of the United States into the greatest conflagration the world has ever seen. It is also served to unite all of America in an effort to defeat the forces of tyranny and preserve our freedoms. This program is dedicated in respectful remembrance and solemn gratitude to that which was lost, what was gained, and the careful attendance to what shall follow.

Franklin Park Master Plan Community Workshop #1

Join us for our first Community Workshop about the future of Franklin Park!

For over a century, Franklin Park has been a lively and beloved center of recreation, gathering, and discovery for the Boston community. Now, with newly allocated park funds, the City of Boston is planning ahead for the park’s next century!

Over the next 18 months, the City of Boston is partnering with a team of landscape architects, planners, ecologists, and community engagement experts to create a master plan for an engaging and diverse Franklin Park.

Our work will build on previous planning efforts and improvements by the City and its partners. We look forward to building on these successes and incorporating even more feedback. It’s your opportunity to help shape the future of the park and connections to the surrounding neighborhoods.

Come to our Community Workshop on January 28, between 6 - 8 p.m. at the William J. Devine Golf Course Clubhouse at Franklin Park. Can’t make it? Share your thoughts on the Master Plan website, or sign up for project updates!

One Boston Resilience Project Listening Session: Mattapan

The City of Boston has launched the One Boston Resilience Project to envision our collective strength after violence, as illuminated by the Boston Marathon bombing.

The One Boston Resilience Project is intended to help us build connectivity and resilience across the City. The City’s response following the Boston Marathon Bombing shed light on our community's commitment to supporting our families, friends, and neighbors who have been impacted by violence of all forms. As part of this project, the City is looking for your guidance and has launched a community engagement process that seeks input on the development of a citywide memorial.

We invite you to participate in this upcoming listening session to share your experiences with healing, remembrance, and resilience. Your feedback will help inform a call-to-artists for the commemorative artwork. Those not interested in sharing their experiences are also welcome to attend.
