Our arts and crafts workshops are led by local artists. They're held Tuesday through Friday in July and August and run from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. These drop-in workshops encourage kids to explore their creativity through projects like mask making, crayon art, watercolor and much more. Supplies are provided, but you'll need to bring your creativity! 

This series is completely free and open to Boston residents. These workshops will take place in various parks throughout the City of Boston.

All Arts and Crafts Workshops Dates

The animated film tells the story of a family of ducks dreaming of the perfect getaway vacation. Mack, the overprotective father, cannot take the risk of traveling from New England all the way to Jamaica. When his two kids, Dax and Gwen, try to convince him to take the leap, Mack must navigate the tricky route through New York City while keeping his family safe. (Year: 2023; Rating: PG)

All shows begin at dusk. The series is hosted by the Boston Parks and Recreation Department and title sponsor Bank of America with additional support from the Mayor’s Office of Tourism, Sports, and Entertainment.

Free fresh popcorn will be provided while supplies last.

No pre-registration needed to attend.

The City of Boston's annual official Independence Day commemoration includes:

• 9 a.m. - Official celebration begins at City Hall Plaza with a brief speaking program at the flagpoles lead by Mayor Martin J. Walsh.
• 9:20 a.m. - The marching units and dignitaries assemble and proceed from City Hall Plaza to Tremont Street.
• 9:30 a.m. - The procession halts  at the Old Granary Burial Ground where Sam Adams, John Hancock, Peter Faneuil and Robert Treat Paine are honored and then continues to Winter Street to Washington Street to Old State House.
• 9:40 a.m. - The Declaration of Independence is read by Captain Commanding Nicholas Schiarizzi of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company at the Old State House balcony, from which the Declaration of Independence was first read to Bostonians in 1776, by a member of the Ancients.
• 10 a.m. - Procession reforms from Congress Street to North Street and ends at Faneuil Hall.
• 10:15 a.m. - Patriotic Exercises are held at Faneuil Hall, with remarks from Mayor Walsh, oration by Dean Kenneth Elmore  and patriotic musical selections.

The Mayor on Main Tour will visit 12 Boston Main Streets districts to present the 22nd Annual Boston Main Streets Awards. The awards recognize an outstanding business owner and volunteer from each district.

• 9:30 a.m. - Depart City Hall
• 10 a.m. - East Boston Main Street District - Jendriel Collision Center
• 11 a.m. - Allston Village Main Street District - Coreanos Allston (lso honoring winners from the Brighton Main Street District)
• 12 p.m. - Mission Hill Main Street District -The Laughing Monk Café

The Mayor on Main Tour will visit Boston Main Streets districts to present the 23rd Annual Boston Main Streets Awards. The awards recognize an outstanding business owner and volunteer from each district. This year's Mayor on Main tour will be held Monday, July 22, Monday, July 29, and Tuesday, July 30, 2019.
