As Program Assistant for the City of Boston's Artist-in-Residence program (Boston AIR), Sharon Amuguni provides administrative support to the Program Director, manages the program calendar, and acts as a resource and point person to the artists-in-residence. She's excited to play a role in supporting the cohort as they use art and media to improve and bolster City initiatives.
Sharon received her Bachelor's in Communication and Media Studies from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. During her time at UMass Amherst, she worked in community radio as the Outreach and then Publicity Director for WMUA. She also previously worked as a program assistant for Mass Poetry.
Sharon is currently a graduate student at Emerson College, in the Civic Media Art and Practice program. Her thesis project is centered on community engagement and the manifestation power in physical space through narrative storytelling and public art. Sharon is also a poet, her work has been featured in Mass Poetry's Raining Poetry project, and in Massachusetts's Best Emerging Poets Anthology by Z Publishing.
