Boston Alzheimer's Initiative

Boston is the first major capital city to join the Alzheimer’s Workplace Alliance.

Alzheimer’s Disease is the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States. More than 15 million Americans provide unpaid care for individuals with Alzheimer’s, or another dementia. The City of Boston has the resources and leverage to mobilize our citizens in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease. Together we will figure out what help is most needed.

Our first step has been to train first responders on how to respond and react when they are dealing with a person with Alzheimer’s or dementia. Additionally, we are hosting workshops during lunch hours to educate City of Boston staff on how to best help people and families caring for a loved one.
