John J. Ryan Playground Improvements
The second phase of construction has started at Ryan Playground. We will be installing the berm, a critical new piece of infrastructure to protect the park and Charlestown from sea level rise and storm events. In addition, we will have new ballfields, playground and splash pad, street hockey rink, seating areas, pathway and sports lighting!

Project Information
In Phase 2, we build the actual playground and sports fields. The contractor has mobilized, so we will be posting construction updates below on a monthly basis.
- Project Features: Little league, multi-use field, passive use, playground and water play.
- Budget: Second Phase: $16 million
- Consultant: Weston and Sampson
- Contractor: Fleming Bros. Inc.
