John J. Ryan Playground Improvements
The first phase of construction is underway at Ryan Playground, and the second phase is scheduled to begin at the end of fall 2025. Installing the berm, a critical new piece of infrastructure, will protect the park and Charlestown from sea level rise.

Our contractor is busy installing the micropiles and ground improvements that will support the structure of the berm along the Mystic edge. We will be posting construction updates below on a monthly basis.
- Project Features: Little league, multi-use field, passive use, playground and water play.
- Budget: First Phase: $6.7 million; Second Phase: $16 million
