John J. Ryan Playground Improvements
The second phase of construction is about to begin at Ryan Playground. This part will include installing the berm, a critical new piece of infrastructure to protect the park and Charlestown from sea level rise and storm events. In addition, we will have new ballfields, playground and splash pad, street hockey rink, seating areas, pathway and sports lighting!

Project Information
We are about to begin Phase 2, when we build the actual playground and sports fields. Once the contractor has fully mobilized, we will be posting construction updates below on a monthly basis.
- Project Features: Little league, multi-use field, passive use, playground and water play.
- Budget: Second Phase: $16 million
- Consultant: Weston and Sampson
- Contractor: Fleming Bros. Inc.
