Through these discussions and a suggestion box at each site, Mayor Walsh looks forward to hearing how the City of Boston can improve upon local parks, public areas, and City services.

We'll have free coffee and breakfast treats provided by Dunkin', as well as fresh fruit from Star Market. Each family will receive a flowering plant grown in the City's greenhouses as a gift from Mayor Walsh. Also, there will be a raffle with prizes from Dunkin'. We'll provide information on City programs from:

• the Boston Public Library
• Boston Public Schools
• the Boston Police Department, and
• Boston Centers for Youth & Families.

This tour will discuss the design goals and the overall process of restoring one of the most important historic bridges in the City of Boston. The Longfellow Bridge over the Charles River, completed in 1908, has undergone a comprehensive five-year restoration to:

• extend its useful life
• comply with current safety codes, and
• enhance its appearance while also preserving its historic integrity and original detailing.

The bridge will also be reconnected to the historic park system along the Charles River basin.

The conversation will focus on climate change and how it may affect Boston's built environment, and specifically historic structures.

This event will be free and open to the public and registration is not required. We encourage those who are interested in these topics to join the conversation and help us protect Boston's historic treasures!

These programs look at the rich history of the African American community on Beacon Hill in the 19th century, with a focus on the abolition movement, the Underground Railroad, and the early struggles for equal rights in Boston.
