Climate Ready East Boston and Charlestown Phase II community open house

The City of Boston’s Climate Ready Boston team has launched the next neighborhood coastal resilience planning process for East Boston and Charlestown. This study will expand the City’s analysis of the neighborhoods to additional areas not covered in the 2017 Phase I study and provide ways to build on the neighborhood flood protection ideas created in Phase 1.

At this first community open house, we will talk about the risk posed by sea level rise and storm surge caused by climate change. We will also start to vision and prioritize what you want to see as part of the coastal resilience solutions with in the project areas.

If you have any questions for the project team, please email climate.ready@boston.gov.

Allandale Woods pond and marsh exploration

Join Mass Audubon and the Boston Parks Department's Urban Wilds Program for a walk at Allandale Woods as we explore pond and marsh habitat.

What kinds of plants and animals inhabit this habitat, and why are marshes so important for a healthy ecosystem?   Ponds and marshes are not only important for the natural world, but are vital for water management in cities.  We will also plant some native shrubs to help keep the ecosystem healthy

Due to current health guidelines we are capping this event at 20 participants.  Masks are required, hand sanitizer will be provided, and social distancing protocols will be followed. Rain date is May 31 at the same time and location.
