Laila Bernstein
Laila manages the Department of Neighborhood Development’s Supportive Housing Division, which is charged with ending homelessness in the City of Boston and leading the Mayor’s Initiatives to End Homelessness.
Though the Supportive Housing Division does not serve constituents directly, the team drives strategic planning, convenes and coordinates multi-sector stakeholders, and provides funding for housing and supportive services for homeless and at-risk households. These housing initiatives are funded through HUD’s McKinney-Vento Continuum of Care ($24M annual competitive grant), HUD’s Emergency Solutions Grant, HUD’s Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) programs, as well as City funding.
Laila holds dual Master’s Degrees in Public Policy and Social Work from the University of Michigan and a BA from Pomona College.
